Terminal layout

Located in Essex, approximately 42 miles from central London, and with one single terminal, travelling through Southend Airport couldn't be simpler. The terminal building has a one-level concourse for departures and arrivals, with a mezzanine level for the first class lounge and Lakers Bar.

Check-in

As a general rule, Southend Airport recommends checking in two hours before your scheduled flight. Check-in closing times vary between flight operators, so you will need to check these with your individual airline. The terminal opens from 4am until 45 minutes after the last scheduled flight. Any arrivals before 4am will not be able to enter the terminal.

Leisure and family facilities

Baby-changing

Baby-changing facilities are available in the disabled toilets in the terminal.

Pushchairs

Pushchairs can be taken right through security to the plane. However, please be ready to remove your baby for a few minutes while the pushchair is put through the screening x-ray. All fine

Play areas

There is a small play area in the Lakers Bar for children, with a screen showing cartoons.

Baby milk

It is now possible to take more than the standard 100ml of baby food through security, provided that this is for the sole purpose of your journey.

Information desk

Southend Airport's information desk is located in the pre-departure area next to the check-in desks.

Shopping

At Southend Airport, you can enjoy browsing tax free goods in the Stobart Airport Shopping store, with up to 20% off highstreet prices on cosmetics, perfumes, alcohol and accessories.  The free Buy Now, Collect on Return service means there is no need to fly with your shopping - instead you can pick your purchases up from the departure lounge when you arrive back in the airport. This service is only available for passengers travelling within the EU. You will also find a branch of WHSmith in the departures lounge for purchasing snacks, magazines and books.

Food & drink

Travellers can purchase sandwiches, snacks and coffees at The Coffee Pod lounge and the Arnold & Forbes Cafe, both of which are located in the departure lounge. The Lakers Bar also offers both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.

Business facilities

Business lounge

Southend Airport's Stobart First Class Lounge includes a self-service bar and complimentary food, as well as magazines, newspapers, fax facilities, iPad docks and complimentary WiFi access - perfect for relaxing before your flight.
